PHLB1010 : Phlebotomy Procedures

This Continuing Education course provides practical instruction in the field of phlebotomy and prepares students to sit for various national certifications. Topics discussed include patient preparation, routine and non-routine specimen collection, safety procedures and infection control, documentation, as well as legal, ethical and professional considerations and other roles of a phlebotomist in healthcare. Students will also practice phlebotomy skills for venipuncture and capillary punctures in a laboratory setting.

PHLB1310 : Phlebotomy Procedures

This course provides practical instruction in the field of phlebotomy. Topics discussed include patient preparation, routine and non-routine specimen collection, safety procedures and infection control, documentation, as well as legal, ethical and professional considerations and other roles of a phlebotomist in healthcare. Students will practice phlebotomy skills for venipuncture and capillary punctures in a laboratory setting. A minimum of 30 completed venipunctures and 10 capillary punctures during the laboratory portion are required for successful completion of the course.
