This Continuing Education course provides practical instruction in the field of Sterile Processing and prepares students to sit for the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam. Major subjects covered include Regulations and Standards, Infection Prevention, Cleaning and Decontamination, Surgical Instrumentation, Assembly and Packaging, High-and Low-Temperature Sterilization, Storage and Transport and Quality Assurance. No academic credit is awarded for this course.

CRST1244 : Sterile Processing Externship

This Sterile Processing Externship Course is designed to provide students with an immersive experience in the aspects of sterile processing within healthcare settings. Students will gain practical, hands-on training in the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of medical equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Through supervised externship placements in healthcare facilities, participants will develop proficiency in infection control practices, inventory management, and equipment maintenance, equipping them with the necessary skills to contribute to the seamless and safe functioning of healthcare environments. CRST1310 : Sterile Processing

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction into the field of sterile processing with insight and overview of the Central Service (CS) department and its technicians. Major subjects covered include introduction to the Central Service sterile processing department, regulations and standards, the role of CS in ancillary departments, and success through communication. Related medical/surgical terminology is integrated throughout the course.

CRST1320 : Sterile Processing Externship
